Tuning Fork Sound Therapy
A more targeted approach to sound therapy
Sound therapy can take many forms.
Gongs, singing bowls, bells and other instruments can create a deeply relaxing and immersive experience, allowing you to simply sit back and experience the sound and vibration.
That can be a wonderful experience.
My approach is different.
Rather than using sound simply as an immersive experience, I use tuning forks in a much more targeted way. I work with specific areas of the body and the surrounding energetic field, using particular frequencies according to what I observe and what you tell me during your session.
The intention is to work with what may be contributing to the emotional and energetic load you are carrying, rather than simply providing an overall sound experience.
Why targeted tuning fork therapy?
Life leaves an impression on us.
Difficult experiences, stress, fear, grief, anger and other powerful emotions can stay with us long after the original event has passed. Sometimes something happening in the present can unexpectedly bring an old reaction back to the surface.
You may find yourself reacting more strongly than you expected.
You may wonder why a particular situation affects you so much.
Or you may simply feel that you are carrying something you cannot quite put your finger on.
My approach is based on the idea that some of these experiences can leave what I describe as plasma-based thought forms within the body’s surrounding energetic field.
Within my method, these thought forms are considered to have a physical quality. I use the 174 Hz tuning fork to locate areas where I perceive a change in resonance and then work with what I identify as the thought form.
The aim is to help integrate what has been held there and, in doing so, reduce the energetic connection between the original experience and the way it may continue to influence the present.
How your session works
Every session begins with a conversation.
You can tell me what has brought you to Tuned Up, whether that is a particular physical area you would like me to work around, an emotional concern, or simply a feeling that something needs attention.
You are never required to disclose personal information.
I do not interrogate you about your past or expect you to explain something you would rather keep private. If you want to talk, I will listen. If you don’t, we work with what you are comfortable sharing.
You can then choose whether you would prefer to lie on the treatment bed or sit in a chair. The choice is yours and does not change the treatment.
I begin by offering mineralised water and ensuring that you are comfortable and relaxed.
Beginning the session
I normally begin with two weighted tuning forks, 62.64 Hz and 54.81 Hz, applied simultaneously around the back of the neck and then around the knees.
These lower frequencies are used at the beginning of the session to help you settle into a relaxed state.
From there, the session becomes much more targeted.
If you have told me, for example, that you have discomfort around your knee, I will work around that area rather than simply passing the tuning fork over your body generally.
I may work across the front, sides and back of the knee, depending on what I observe during the session.
If there is no particular area you want me to concentrate on, I begin above the head and gradually work through the shoulders and other areas.
Working with the 174 Hz tuning fork
The 174 Hz tuning fork has a particularly important role in my approach.
As I move the fork around the body and surrounding energetic field, I listen carefully to its tone.
When I perceive a change in the tone, this is an indication within my method that I may have located a thought form.
I then work with the tuning fork to capture and integrate it.
Some clients report feeling this process physically. They may describe a sensation of tugging or pulling as I work with the fork, even when I am several feet away from them.
Not everyone experiences this.
People respond differently, and some are naturally more sensitive to subtle sensations than others.
I also use my intuition during the session. Occasionally my attention is drawn towards a particular area of the body or energetic field. When this happens, I investigate that area with the tuning fork and listen for the change in resonance.
The energetic field
Within my approach, I work with an energetic field extending approximately six feet from the body.
I also work progressively through this field rather than treating it as a flat or fixed area.
Areas closer to the body are associated, within my model, with more recent experiences, while moving further away from the body can indicate experiences from earlier periods of life.
This gives me another way of exploring what may be held within the field without requiring you to tell me your personal history.
Integrating the thought form
Once I have located what I identify as a thought form, I work with the tuning fork to capture it.
Within my experience, the thought form has a physical quality. As I work with the vibrating fork, I can sometimes feel what I perceive as the weight or movement of the thought form around the fork.
The tone also changes as the fork interacts with the area I am working on.
I then bring the captured thought form towards the solar plexus as part of the integration process.
After several integrations, I may ask you to become more actively involved through your breathing.
You may be asked to take a deep breath, hold it and gently engage your diaphragm while using your imagination to visualise the associated strands moving towards and into the solar plexus.
This is not something you have to understand intellectually for it to be meaningful.
You simply follow the instructions and allow yourself to participate in the process.
Why forgiveness is so important
Forgiveness is a central part of my approach.
And forgiveness does not mean saying that something that happened was acceptable.
It means releasing your continued attachment to it.
Where appropriate, I encourage clients to consider forgiveness on three levels:
-
Forgiveness of yourself.
-
Forgiveness of the other person.
-
Forgiveness of the situation itself.
Within my model, this is important because simply locating and integrating a thought form is only part of the process.
The way you relate to the original experience matters too.
The aim is not to erase what happened. You cannot change the past.
The aim is to change the relationship you have with it.
When the past starts influencing the present
Think about how easily a present-day situation can remind you of something that happened years ago.
A particular place.
A person’s tone of voice.
A smell.
A relationship.
Something someone says.
You may consciously know that you are in a completely different situation, yet your thoughts, feelings or emotional response can suddenly feel remarkably similar to what you experienced in the past.
Within my approach, this can happen when an existing thought form is triggered, effectively bringing an old experience into a new situation.
The purpose of integrating these forms is to help remove that energetic connection with the past experience.
The hope is that when a similar situation occurs again, you have greater freedom to respond to what is actually happening now, rather than automatically responding from what happened then.
That is an important distinction.
The goal isn’t to tell you how you should respond.
It is to help you recognise that you may have more choice in how you respond than you previously realised.
What might you experience?
Every person responds differently.
Some clients become very relaxed and drowsy during treatment. Others notice physical sensations as I work with the tuning fork.
During the integration process, some people experience a strong emotional response and may suddenly find themselves crying as emotions come to the surface.
Others experience very little emotionally during the session and notice something later when they are sitting quietly at home.
There is no right or wrong response.
You do not have to produce an emotional reaction for the session to be worthwhile.
You simply allow yourself to experience whatever comes up without judgement.
Finishing your session
At the end of the treatment, I encourage you to stand and stamp your feet as a simple grounding exercise before leaving the treatment space.
Many clients feel quite drowsy during treatment and find that they become noticeably more alert after grounding.
I then offer you more mineralised water and encourage you to remain well hydrated over the following few hours.
You may also find that emotions come to the surface after your session, particularly when you have some quiet time.
If that happens, my advice is simple:
Allow the emotion to be there. Don’t fight it.
Give yourself the space to experience it and, where appropriate, work with the principle of forgiveness that we discussed during your session.
A session is not a performance
There is no requirement for you to tell me everything.
There is no need to manufacture an emotional response.
And there is no particular experience you are supposed to have.
Some people are highly sensitive to the process. Others notice very little while the session is taking place and reflect on it afterwards.
My job is to provide the space, work with the tuning forks and guide you through the process.
Your job is simply to be present and allow yourself to participate.
Your session
A Tuned Up tuning fork therapy session lasts approximately 60 minutes.
Single session — £60
A one-hour targeted tuning fork therapy session tailored to you and what you bring to the session.
Three-session package — £150
Three one-hour sessions for those who would like to explore the process over a period of time.
Save £30 compared with booking three individual sessions.
There is no requirement to book a particular number of sessions. Some people choose to return because they value the experience, while others may feel that one session is enough for them at that time.
The choice is always yours.
